Great Cloth Diaper Change 2013

The Great Cloth Diaper Change is an international event that set world record for most cloth diapers changed in 2011 & 2012. By all accounts, they expect to beat their previous world record once everything is tallied for the April 20th, 2013 Great Cloth Diaper Change.

Jilliane, our Board Chair, and Caitlyn, our Education Chair, set up a table along other vendors at Diaper Junction‘s Great Cloth Diaper Change event. It was a lot of fun to talk to people about babywearing, promote our group, & giving out info cards. Jilliane and I did demonstrations with various carriers. We also met some expecting parents as well as some parents who didn’t seem to know where to start! We were so excited to encourage people to come to our meeting in May to meet more babywearers & get even more in-person help. The Twisted Sisters truck was there with some delicious cupcakes and there were over $2,000 in prizes given! Despite it being chilly, there was a great turn out. The Great Cloth Diaper Change had 95 participants in Virginia Beach.

This was the second year that local cloth diapering, natural and attachment parenting business, For Mom and Keiki has hosted The Great Cloth Diaper Change on the peninsula.  Babywearing International had a table along with For Mom and Keiki, Breastfeeding Mamas, and Hampton Roads NOCIRC.  There were 25 parent/baby pairs that participated.  For Mom and Keiki raffled off some great loot and everyone got gift bags with Snappis and detergent samples.  BWI of HR Volunteer Babywearing Educator Ashley had the pleasure of sharing some info about our group as well as helping a few mamas with carries in their woven wraps.

Big thanks to Diaper Junction & For Mom and Keiki for giving Babywearing International of Hampton Roads the opportunity to spread the babywearing love at your events!
