The Babywearing International of Hampton Roads meeting in Virginia Beach was a huge success! We had a lot of new faces and a total of 76 adults and children. That’s pretty impressive considering the fact that our very first meeting was just this past December.
We welcomed our newest Volunteer Babywearing Educator (VBE), Ashley T. Ashley has been babywearing for a long time and has a solid reputation in the local community both for her babywearing knowledge & her outgoing personality. She has been coordinating meetings & meetups on the Peninsula for quite a while now and we are super excited to have her take the next step as a certified babywearing educator.
Our Operations Chair, Ginger, passed out t-shirts from our February pre-order. If you were not at the meeting please email Operations or contact her via Facebook. We are hoping to do another t-shirt design & preorder for Summer. Stay tuned!
We have also recently opened a Babywearing International of Hampton Roads shop on Zazzle with a variety of items. We will have some standard-line t-shirt designs available year round. We set the option so that the buyer can choose whatever shirt you would like to have our design printed on, so prices vary greatly.
The Great Cloth Diaper Change will take place April 20th in two local areas. Diaper Junction in Virginia Beach will be hosting one of the events. Registration begins at 9am and the actual diaper change will take place at 11am. BWIofHR will have a table with information and carrier demonstrations throughout the event.
For Mom & Keiki is hosting a GCDC event on the Peninsula and details will be shared as soon as we have them.
April 20th is also the scheduled date for our monthly meeting to be held in Portsmouth. We are gauging interest to see if we should cancel the meeting or hold it for those who may not be interested in the GCDC. Please let us know in the comments or through facebook if you are interested in attending a meeting in Portsmouth.
After we covered a LOT of news, Caitlyn was able to demonstrate the March Carry of the Month. Several people were able to try ring slings for the first time or get tips on how to make using the ones they already have easier. Thanks to one of our local babywearers with a young, squishy infant, Caitlyn was able to demonstrate with a baby instead of a weighted baby doll.
|I think her expression says it all! Thanks for letting us borrow your baby, Jessica!|
